#OzoneAtFive – five things we love about Ozone

Celebrating five years of Ozone with five days of commentary from our brilliant team.

As we celebrate the fifth anniversary of Ozone’s launch, we’ve asked our team for their thoughts and opinions on the different things that have made for memorable moments across the years. Today, we’re going to focus on what makes Ozone a brilliant company to work for and why our people love working here.

Our people love our people. The number one reason why our people love working at Ozone is because they love our people. They’re an incredibly talented bunch (their words and ours too). We truly believe we have assembled a quite remarkable team in our first five years and what’s truly brilliant about them is that they recognise this in all of their colleagues. What’s even better is they’re also really, really nice and really, really cool (again, their words and ours too!).

No one captures this better than our strategy lead Frances, who says: “Everyone’s willing to help one another, is approachable – from the senior leadership team down – and has a constant appetite to advance what we offer our publisher, advertiser and agency partners.” It’s brilliant to have fostered such an incredible community of dynamic, stimulating and supportive colleagues, our management accountant Bipin adds. Or as Chris from our product and engineering team says: “Ozone people equals lovely people.” We couldn’t have put it better, Chris.

Our mission to power the premium web is the next reason why our people love working at Ozone. We truly believe in building a more sustainable future for journalism by creating better digital advertising experiences for brands and consumers. It’s been our MO since our inception and it underpins everything we do. Recent recruit Jhan – our new client director – says this north star focus motivated him to join us. “We’re all working to safeguard the future of the premium web for our stakeholders including my direct advertising clients and the consumers they want to reach,” he says.

This sense of purpose and direction comes from our very clear strategy, says product manager Isa, which he says is communicated effectively by our senior leadership team whenever we all get together. It’s quite normal at our fortnightly town halls to remind everyone about how we’re progressing on our journey. It ensures we’re always pulling together in the same direction in a collaborative way, says our CFO Nick.

Simply put, Ozone is simply premium with a mission to power the premium web

Our core values are the third reason why our people love life at Ozone. Our marketing lead Bryan encapsulates this with his comments: “I love that our team are the ones who decided on our core values and ensured they reflect what it means to be one of us. More than two years on from creating them, the values resonate as much now – if not more – than they did then.” As well as building a better future for our industry, our values are that everyone can make a difference, together is the best way and to be open, authentic and human.

Innovation and the products we create and sell to advertisers and publishers is the fourth reason why our people love us. As we’re built for brands, by publishers, and came into existence as a privacy-friendly technology company. Our approach to innovation is another reason to love Ozone and our people agree. Charlotte from our publisher services team says this approach helps us to push boundaries and do things that are absolutely unique in the market. As a business built on innovation, our unique position in-market makes it easy for our agency sales partner Dougie to speak to his clients. “I love going in and talking to agencies about something I know that nobody else does.”

Sharing Ozone knowledge with our own team and our agency partners

The fifth reason our people love life at Ozone is because of the learning and development opportunities they have here. Ozone’s full of subject matter experts who are happy to spend time sharing what they know to boost the knowledge of others, explains Amrit in our publisher services team. It’s this desire to share and learn that’s helped Amrit grow from a graduate who first joined Ozone in our people team before making the leap into publisher services. Amrit definitely lived and breathed this recently when she schooled the entire business at a recent town hall when she presented a publisher pitch dragon’s den style. To say we were all blown away would be an understatement. Nice work, Amrit!

While we are celebrating the five things our people love about working at Ozone, it would be remiss of us to not include one additional reason. The final word – or should that be woof – goes to our beloved office pooch, Brody, the most popular Ozoner at the company!
